Organization of each house of the General Assembly

The mode of organizing each house of the General Assembly shall be prescribed by law.
Each house except as otherwise provided in this constitution, shall choose its own officers. The presiding officer in the Senate shall be designated as president of the Senate and in the House of Representatives as speaker of the House of Representatives.
Each House shall determine its own rules of proceeding.

Organization of each house of the General Assembly

The mode of organizing the house of representatives, at the commencement of each regular session, shall be prescribed by law.

The Senate and House of Representatives, when assembled, shall each choose a speaker and its other officers, be judges of the qualifications and elections of its members, and sit upon its own adjournments; two-thirds of each house shall continue a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and compel the attendance of absent members.
