Additional justices to the supreme court
The legislature, at the first session thereof after the adoption of this amendment shall provide for the election at the general election next after the adoption of this amendment, by the electors of the first judicial district, of not more than two justices of the supreme court in addition to the justices of that court now in office in said judicial district; by the electors of the second judicial district, of not more than two justices of the supreme court in addition to the justices of that court now in office in said judicial district. The justices so elected in the first and second judicial districts, respectively, shall be invested with their offices on the first Monday of January next after their election.
