Every qualified voter in North Carolina who is 21 years of age, except as in this Constitution disqualified, shall be eligible for election by the people to office.

Eligibility to office. Official oath

Every voter in North Carolina, except as in this Article disqualified, shall be eligible to hold office, but before entering upon the duties of the office, he shall take and subscribe the following oath:
“I, ……………, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my office, as ………. So help me God.”

Eligibility to office; official oath

Every voter, except as hereinafter provided, shall be eligible to office; but before entering upon the discharge of the duties of his office, he shall take and subscribe the following oath : "I, ————, do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and maintain, the Constitution and laws of the United States and the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent therewith, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my office. So help me God."
